Preparing for a job interview

interviewA woman should prepare for every job interview.  Dress for the job you want and plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early. This will allow you ample time to collect your thoughts so you can present yourself with confidence.  We have all seen the person who arrives late,  casually dressed and who doesn’t get the job because she’s all apologetic about being unprepared.  Sure everyone runs into difficulty on occasions but you don’t want this to happen on a job interview.

Be ready for all sorts of questions.  If you think about it ahead of time you’ll be able to give reasonable, confident answers.

  • Here are some of the questions you could be asked.  Can you answer these without having to look to the ceiling and think about it?
  • What expectations do you have about working here?
  • What is your favorite book? Why? How would you describe it?
  • What are some of your hobbies and interests?
  • Describe yourself.
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • Where do you expect to be in 5 years time?
  • What defines you as a human being?
  • What are you best at? What strengths do you have?
  • What are you worst at? What don’t you like doing? What are your weaknesses?
  • Where do you see yourself progressing in the company?
  • What was your favorite part about your last job?
  • What was your least favorite part about your last job?
  • Why do you want to work here?
  • What is your proudest achievement?
  • What ideas did you put forward in your last job for how you could improve the company?
  • What is your work style? What kinds of people do you work best with?
  • What’s the best reason you can give for why I should hire you over someone else?
