Virtual flirting

Is there such a thing as ‘emotional cheating’? Is it a betrayal to your significant other to get emotionally involved with someone else? I believe it does exist, and I believe there is a level of betrayal to it. Is it worse than physical cheating?

Have I done it? Yes. Would I do it again? Yes. I am an emotional person…I always have been. In a relationship I need all the pieces to fit together. Emotionally, physically, spiritually…the connection has to mesh on all three for it to work. I know many men seek a connection through the physical, and when things go wrong, they seek physical intimacy to make it better. Women seek the emotional intimacy side of that…and this is where men seem to struggle.

It is so easy online to ‘connect’ with someone who says all the right things and writes all the right words. He makes you feel as if you are the sole being that lights up his world. He can’t have the physical with you, so he endeavors to bond through words. He seems to care, he wants to listen, to be there for you and to support you.  He wraps you in compliments and lends his ear & his shoulder.  He’s able to caress your hurts with soothing words and to make you laugh & smile and laugh again.  To most women, all this would awaken them sexually with the sensual words he shares. Are we as women emotionally drawn to that? Hell yes we are!
